FHSU Tailgreat Comes to an End

The annual Tailgreat, a popular pregame tailgating experience that brings hundreds of college kids and members of the community to Lewis Field Stadium, has officially ended.

Every year, the Chamber of Commerce hosts Tailgreat as a way to bring people to the games and support the Tigers. Normally the event is held at the home game before the Tiger’s Homecoming game, and costs $25.00. Participants had to preregister for the event.

This year the Tailgreat tradition has come to a halt. This is the first time in many years that Fort Hays and the Chamber of Commerce will not be holding Tailgreat, and many people are upset. However, some students are planning on still going and holding their own.

Although there isn’t an official Tailgreat this year, you are allowed asia mobile number list to tailgate (and drink) at every home game, as long as you follow the rules. Some of the major ones that you should note are that you can start drinking 4 hours prior to the game and must stop at the start of the game, alcohol must be poured into plastic cups, beer bongs are not allowed, and your music must be kept at a reasonable volume and radio edited. Also, you must abide by the legal drinking age, and the police will keep this enforced.

Fort Hays State University is encouraging all students and fans to tailgate before every home football game.

Matt Cook, Assistant Athletic Director of External Operations at Fort Hays State University, said “With the new parking lot, we want people to come out and use and enjoy it. We are now doing Tiger Tailgate every game. The only thing that changed is that we extended the tailgating times an additional hour to help our fans out. Tailgating will now be on a first-come, first-served basis and free to all.”

Although the Tailgreat tradition has ended at FHSU, maybe this is a step forward to encourage students and fans to come to every Fort Hays football game, rather than just going to one a year. What are your thoughts?
